Bob Chinn pens his first Johnny Wadd Novel

Bob Chinn, creator and porn-auteur of the nine-part Johnny Wadd adult film series that launched the career of legendary porn icon John Holmes, is soon set to release his first novel, Flesh of the Lotus.

The book is based on the second film of the detective series (shot in 1971) and will be the first of six Johnny Wadd novels to be published by BearManor Fiction.

In 2008 BearManor Media published the critically acclaimed biography on John Holmes titled, John Holmes; A Life Measured in Inches by Jennifer Sugar and Jill C. Nelson.

Flesh of the Lotus: A Johnny Wadd Novel, was inspired by Chinn’s desire to expand upon the original storyline and character; something he was unable to do as a maverick filmmaker in the 1970s within the confines of budget restrictions and time constraints:

β€œIn this book I have tried to depict the character as more or less as I had originally envisioned him and would have liked him to be, and the story is set in the very era in which he was created. It was the era of the Vietnam War when both our country and our society were in the beginning stages of undergoing a radical transformation.

“Johnny Wadd, the private detective character that I have depicted in this book was a part of that revolutionary era and he should not be confused with John Holmes the man, even though somehow they seem to have become almost inextricably linked by history into a single person.”

In related news, the Hollywood production company, Formosa Films, has secured the option for the exclusive rights for a theatrical feature film of Bob Chinn’s life story.

The film will center on Chinn’s ten year professional relationship with John Holmes and will be co-produced by Will Tiao (the producer and star of the political thriller Formosa Betrayed) and John Radulovic (producer of the Showtime TV series Californication).

Will Tiao recently spoke about his commitment and sensitivity to the project with Chinn: β€œI feel an overwhelming responsibility to tell your story, John’s story, and the story of all those who you worked with in a way that honors all of you. Your story is part of America’s story and it must be told in an honest, truthful, unflinching way.”
