Body Talk

Sometimes it’s truly eerie how art and life intermingle. Such is the case for Body Talk, a film that deals with the timeless plot device of forbidden love.

Mark (Steven Tyler) and Cassie (Heaven St. John) are lovebirds, whose relationship is untenable to those around them, namely Mark’s parents and Cassie’s sugar daddy Jeremy. The two are introduced through a blind tennis date set up by friends, played by Kay Parker and Randy West. And the way they play to the tune of Wagner’s Flight of the Valkyrie you would think they truly are sightless.

Nonetheless, the two hit it off and look forward to the party later that night. Heaven and Kay get a head start engaging in a lesbian fling after returning from a body wrap. At this point, you get a first look at Heaven’s lovely natural tits and some pussy eating courtesy of the two.

The party itself is a collection of some of the worst fashion you will ever see, but thankfully this film is about no clothing. The party doesn’t turn out as Mark envisioned as he is tipped off to the presence of Jeremy. Jeremy is jealous of the budding relationship between Cassie and Mark. There is no sexual stuff between Jeremy and Cassie, but their decade long arrangement dictates that, in exchange for material possessions, Cassie lets Jeremy watch as she fucks other men. His method of voyeurism: the old eyes-cut-out-of-a-conspicuous-wall-painting ploy. In this scene, we see Cassie get it on with two partygoers, a threeway with fingercuffing and cocksucking plus a cumshot in her mouth and one on her ass.

Cassie and Mark finally get their moment, consummating their relationship in front of the fire in their living room. Mark not only gets a fine piece of ass, but he gets the job he’s been seeking as Cassie commissions him to do a sculpture of her. She has fallen in love, but she doesn’t want to make Mark the subject of Jeremy’s prying eyes. However, her lovestruck nature causes her to perform more poorly in future fuck sessions for Jeremy. Understandably, Jeremy senses something is up and confronts her, dishing out an ultimatum: bring Mark to fuck for him or she gets tossed out into the street. They agree to sever their relationship and she moves in with Mark.

A continuing pain in her leg forces Cassie to go to the doctor at the behest of Kay. As all this goes on, Mark’s mom comes to see their new place and finds out about the arrangement he has with Cassie. Mom is appalled when she finds out they are living together in sin and how much older she is. The two have a falling out, which is nothing new for Mark as he and his dad have had multiple tiffs over his career choice.

When the diagnosis comes back positive for terminal bone cancer, Cassie is crushed but hides the truth from Mark. Mark, meanwhile, asks Cassie to marry him, but she uses their current happiness as an excuse to hold off on the proposal. When Mark overhears Cassie on the phone trying to sell some of her prized gold jewelry, Mark feels compelled to take on a second job as a stripper, however some of his mother’s friends are in the audience and break the news to Mark’s mom.

At this juncture, Mark has sold his first sculpture, generating a sudden interest on the part of his father. Mark’s dad decides to send him to a prestigious sculpting seminar in England, while trying to convince Cassie to leave Mark. Because she loves him so much and wants him to succeed, she agrees to step out of the picture. Mark is distraught when he finds out Cassie has left and jets off to Europe still in the dark about her illness.

A letter from Mark addressed to Kay and Randy make them realize they need to tell Mark the truth despite Cassie’s wanting to keep it hidden. The two inform Mark’s parents of the real reason Cassie agreed to dissolve her relationship with Mark, but only after another fuck session where Kay sucks Randy’s cock and he fucks her hole, cumming on her hairy pussy.

As Cassie rests in bed, a letter arrives from Mark’s parents. They apologize having found out the true reason why she agreed to end her relationship with Mark. They have told Mark about her illness and have arranged for Mark to fly back immediately from the seminar to be with her, with their full blessing. It an uplifting way to end a film full of desperation and despair.

The film is quite touching for a porn flick and apparently had so much of an effect on viewers it was nominated for Best Picture of the Year in 1982. It helps that Heaven St. John, known in Hollywood as Angelique Pettijohn, brought serious acting credentials to the set, having been a fixture in ’60s shows like Batman, The Green Hornet and The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. She also appeared as Shahna in one of the more beloved episodes of Star Trek called “The Gamesters of Triskelion”

Having battled drug, alcohol and low self-esteem issues (that led to her booty films) Angelique succumbed to cervical cancer in 1992, making this film somewhat prophetic in nature.
